Getting the City Planner Achievement in Sons of the Forest

The “City Planner” achievement requires players to build a structure with over 1,000 logs in Sons of the Forest. While the achievement description indicates “a structure”, building separate structures using 1,000 logs will count towards “City Planner”.

This is a time-consuming achievement since players must cut down trees, carry logs, and build structures for multiple hours until they get the achievement. Cutting down one tree can produce four or more logs, with most trees giving five or six.Building structures

This means players must cut down around 200 trees to acquire 1,000 logs. However, removing and placing a log will add to the achievement’s log count. As such, it is possible to exploit this and skip cutting down hundreds of trees.

Still, this exploit only works as of writing this guide. Endnight might patch this and prevent players from using said exploit.

Tips for Getting City Planner

1. Create Large Projects

The best way to earn the “City Planner” achievement is by building large structures, such as mansions, towers, and massive bases. Instead of focusing on cutting down hundreds of trees and getting 1,000 logs, players should concentrate on the act of building.

For instance, players can build an extremely tall tower where they can launch the hang glider. Another example is creating a structure based on real-life architecture, such as a church, mansion, or even a city.

By doing these, players can have a fun and rewarding time while making progress towards the achievement.

2. Ignore it and Just Play a Lot

It is important to note that this achievement and other similar ones, such as “Architect” and “Contractor”, count logs across saves. This allows players to unlock the “City Planner” achievement after placing just a couple of logs in a new game.

As such, players do not need to grind in one save file and can experiment with other modes without losing progress. For instance, a player can build structures with 900 logs in singleplayer mode and get the achievement after building with 100 logs in multiplayer.

3. Play Multiplayer Mode

Cutting down 200 trees is a monumental task for an individual. It would take tens of hours to cut them and tens of hours more to build the structures.

Fortunately, Sons of the Forest has a multiplayer mode. By playing with others, cutting down 200 trees and building structures will be faster. There is also Kelvin which players can command to gather logs, further speeding up the process.
