The “Keep Your Friends Close” achievement requires players to complete the story with all friendly NPCs alive. This means that players must finish Sons of the Forest with Kelvin and Virginia still alive.
Keeping NPCs Alive
Currently, Virginia and Kelvin can only die if the player kills them accidentally or intentionally.
When enemies attack Virginia or Kelvin, they go into a downed state and the enemies will stop attacking them. The player can revive them by pressing E. Alternatively, they will eventually revive themselves if the player does not interact with them.
During cannibal attacks, it is possible for the player to accidentally hit Virginia or Kelvin. This is the most common way for these two to die. As such, the player should avoid swinging their melee weapons near them.
Additionally, some bugs and other issues may lead Virginia or Kelvin to die. Players should take note of these and always check if Kelvin and Virginia are still alive in their game.
The “Keep Your Friends Close” achievement will unlock once the player enters the cube with Virginia and Kelvin. If one or both of them are not in the cube, it means that they are dead and the player cannot unlock the achievement.
